ailovebaking is simply my love for baking, writing, and sharing.

I started baking many, many moons ago. Many heartaches and flops later, I’ve gotten better! I’ve taken a couple of classes here and there, but mostly self-taught from late night “experiments” in the kitchen.

I have an undergraduate degree in English and love to write. So naturally (and with some encouragement from my husband) decided to start a food/baking blog in 2010–thus the beginning of ailovebaking and sharing what I love to do with all of you.

Although baking is my passion, I am first and always will be a proud mother of two children with a very patient husband. And between the kids, home, and work I still manage to find the time to bake and blog. As for my blog name? Ai represents my love and passion for baking and writing (ai is love in Japanese). Ai also represents the love for my kids-“A” my daughter and “I” my son.

I usually post all of the recipes when I blog and do not believe there are any “secret recipes”. I find that unless you share your recipes, they get lost or forgotten.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to share with me what ailove to do.

    Good evening,

Last year a business associate gave my office a couple bags of Yolanda’s Gourmet 100% Kona Coffee for Christmas. We are now almost out! I have been feverishly looking for a place to buy more. Does your aunt sell her coffee on Oahu? Will she do mail order?

    • ailovebaking December 9, 2011 at 8:08 pm Reply

Hi Erin! Sorry for the delay in my response back to you. Regarding my Aunt’s coffee, production has been slow this year and unfortunately she has not been selling her coffee in the usual location on the Big Island. This is the only place where she distributes her coffee. However, send me an email with your contact information at ailovebaking@gmail.com and I can pass along your inquiry to her. She produces small batches throughout the year and perhaps you can be placed on her waitlist for future batches. Thank you for your inquiry and Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much Raquel for stopping by and taking the time to write me such a heart-warming comment. I believe if you have the passion that is really all you need! I actually grew up without an oven too!

My only regret is not learning more Filipino desserts. I wish sometimes I can turn back time to learn from my elders how to make certain Filipino desserts. Now I am left with searching endlessly on the Internet : (

I hope you get to live your dream as well. Keep in touch and all the best to you.

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you very much for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I am very much like you self taught baker with lots of experiments in the kitchen! And thank you for linking back to my blog on your polvoron post. I am extremely honored considering I have only recently started making polvoron. I am completely amazed at the pictures you posted on the polvoron cupcakes. WOW! That is something I would like to try making one day : )

Hi Ai! I was attracted to your blog, because of the name! Ai is also my daughter’s Japanese name! I am French, and my husband Japanese-Canadian, so our kids have English, Japanese and French names!!! Great looking blog, I look forward to your posts!

    • ailovebaking July 20, 2012 at 9:03 pm Reply

Hello Tartine! Thank you very much for stopping by my blog! Rather intentional or unintentional the initials of my daughter and son’s names turned out to be “A” and “I” and it couldn’t have turned out any better being “ai” 🙂
I don’t feel too bad then since my children also have several names: English, Japanese, and in the Filipino tradition, they also inherited my maiden or second name!
And thank you for subscribing to my blog. It must be faith since my family and I will be vacationing in Paris this September! I have never been and I am feeling a bit anxious. But now I have someone to inquire with on the best places to visit while I am there! And I see you are recently back from France–loved seeing all of your vivid photos!
