  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Chocolate Cheerios cereal (crushed)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/3 cup dehydrated strawberries (lightly crushed)

  • 2/3 cups light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 cups Chocolate Cheerios cereal
  • mini-heart sprinkles

Step 1 Pre-heat oven to 350°. Line bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.
Step 2 In a bowl of a stand mixer, mix all crust ingredients except marshmallows on low speed until crumbly.
Step 3 Press firmly into the bottom of the prepared 13x9-inch pan and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until light golden brown.
Step 4 Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the mini-marshmallows and dehydrated strawberries over the crust.
Step 5 Return back to the oven and bake for an additional 1-2 minutes or until the marshmallows begin to puff. Cool while preparing the topping.
Step 6 In a large pot, combine all topping ingredients except for the cereal and mini-heart shaped sprinkles. Heat over medium-low and stir constantly until chocolate chips are melted and mixture is a smooth consistency.
Step 7 Remove from heat and stir in cereal until it is well coated.
Step 8 Immediately spoon mixture evenly over the marshmallow and work quickly since it will start to harden and will become harder to spread.
Step 9 Sprinkle with mini-heart sprinkles and let cool for about 1 hour.
Step 10 Before cutting into shapes or bars, refrigerate for at least half an hour.
Step 11 It is easier to cut from the bottom, therefore slowly invert the pan onto a cutting board.
Step 12 Cut into shapes, bars, or use a deep cookie cutter.

I made a few adjustments to the original recipe.  I cut back on some of the sugar and added dehydrated strawberries for a more healthier treat.  I also made a "regular" version with frosted Cheerios, white chocolate chips, and added a bit of lemon powder to the white chocolate mixture to cut the sweetness.

In regards to cutting, the best way is to cut from the bottom.  Slowly invert the pan onto a cutting board.
